Hi, I'm Zilla. Your fiery friend for a better, longer life.
CAMERA HEART RATE MONITOR, NO WEARABLE NEEDED!
Healthzilla can now monitor your Resting Heart Rate ("RHR") and Heart Rate Variability ("HRV") using your phone's camera. It takes just 60 seconds, and will measure your RHR (heart health) and HRV (stress & recovery) just like a wearable device. Do the Stress Scan every morning before getting out of bed for best results!
MORNING REMINDER
After your first test, you can also choose to set a morning reminder to do your Stress Scan. This ensures your data and trends are consistent for Stress & Recovery analysis.
TRACK YOUR STRESS & RECOVERY TRENDS
The dashboard shows a weekly chart of your Heart Rate and HRV data. If your Heart Rate is HIGHER than normal, it may be an indicator of higher physiological or psychological stress. Similarly, if your HRV is much lower than normal, it will indicate higher stress levels. You can use this information to guide your recovery from workouts, and generally planning your daily activities at work. For active recovery, you can also focus on sleep or add meditation and breathing exercises.
DAILY STRESS SCORE
After each Stress Scan, we calculate your Stress Score based on recent trends: Great, Good, Easy, Rest, or Sick. Use this as a guide for your daily wellness routines, activities, and workouts.
ANOMALY DETECTION
To help you make sense of this data, our Stress Score algorithm checks for unusually high or low values for your heart rate. Very low HRV or very high Heart Rate can be signs of acute stress, injury, or illness.
FEELING UNWELL?
You can now manually override your daily Stress Score, if you're feeling stressed or unwell. You can access the override from the dashboard, or after your daily Stress Scan.
RESTING HEART RATE (“RHR”)
This data is much more important than your real-time heart rate. What’s the difference? Heart Rate represents how much work your heart has to do when you’re relaxed. It’s not exactly the same as the lowest heart rate you have when you sleep.
The reason resting heart rate is important is that it’s a rough measure of your nervous system activity, hormone levels, and cardiovascular fitness. There is research to show that lower resting heart rate means longer life.
NORMAL RESTING HEART RATE
Well, the norms are actually a statistical definition, i.e. how much of the population falls under each range. It doesn’t really say what’s good. But for healthy athletic individuals, you would certainly want to see a resting heart rate below 70. Can it be too low? Yes, below 40 you may start to have problems. It represents the physical load on your cardiovascular system. If you make life harder for your heart, your resting heart rate shows it real quick.
HEART RATE VARIABILITY (“HRV”)
Okay, so we know heart rate is your pulse. How many times the heart beats per minute. So what is this voodoo, then? Well, it turns out that the beats per minute aren’t steady. There’s a minute variation between each one. Some shorter, some longer.
This is some of the most interesting new data out there, because HRV is actually a representation of your central nervous system. If you’re not exactly sure what that is, it’s basically your wiring. How signals pass between your brain and the rest of your body. Analyzing this signal indicates if your body is in fight or flight mode, or rest and digest mode. Naturally, you wouldn’t want to unnecessarily be in fight mode which stresses out your body over time.
WHAT IS NORMAL HRV?
Even harder to gauge than RHR, because to be frank there isn’t as much research for HRV yet. Wearables that measure HRV have only been in the market a few years. What we do know about HRV (rmssd) is that if you’re close to 0, that isn’t good. It means your heart pumps like a metronome, which isn’t normal. If you’re close to 100, that’s good. Between the two, it’s harder to judge.
