As Sam guides Christina through interactions with other scared individuals, groups, and the natural world, their commitment to obedience weakens, only to be replaced by a commitment to direct action. While their relationship begins with the search for Christina's mother, their journey matures into a larger search for truth; not only exploring what it is but how it emerges from one’s decisions.
