RWY - Rights at work for youth - v1.9

Rights at work for youth (RWY) is the easy way for young people to learn about their rights and obligations in the labour market.

Negotiating a contract, discussing working hours and wages or social security entitlements can be intimidating. Use this educational game to gain knowledge needed for first-time employees and boost your confidence when facing your future employer.

The topics are presented to you in a form of story quizzes describing real-life situations and regular “question-answer” quizzes.

By going through the app’s sections you will learn about:
● employment guidelines and contract basics: minimum age and wage, probationary and notice periods, contract termination, dismissal;
● employment standard rules and employee’s rights: standard work hours for youth, overtime rates, annual holidays, paid and unpaid leave of absence;
● safe work environment and safety culture in the workplace: employer’s responsibilities for safe work environment, employee’s rights in case of dangerous work conditions, medical service, accident in a workplace;
● Social Security entitlements: social insurance, taxation, disability cover and discrimination.

You can choose the subject you want to learn first and jump between quizzes.

After downloading the app on your mobile phone, you will be presented with the introduction quiz and asked to enter your name, or a nickname, and select the school you are attending. Once you are registered, you will be directed to the Lobby with all the quizzes.

You don’t have to finish the quiz in one go - you can start it again anytime you like. If you complete the quiz, you will gain experience points for yourself and for your school. You can view the results in the Leaderboard section.

Each quiz can be repeated at any time. This gives you a chance to revise what you have already learnt and score higher points for your school.

Rights at work for youth (RWY) was developed with the support of the International Labour Office in collaboration with the Office of the Czech Republic Government. The app is based on the ILO guidelines for rights at work for youth.

The International Labour Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations. Its main aims are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.
