When our face is being assessed, is it always by someone that knows us. So, the opinion will not be free of several biases. This will not happen by someone who does not know us at all and never will get to know us. This is what this app is all about. It is a facial assessment without interaction.

Therefore, this app is not just a game but a social experiment for each player. The app is not a chat platform. There is no interaction between the players. The players see each other for 7 seconds and then do not see each other anymore and there is no more contact between the players. There is no interchange of any kind of personal information between the players. The age, country and gender are just registered for statistical purposes and (except the Country where the player is living) our Gender and the approximate age is open data as soon as the players see each other faces. Players are chosen randomly to play with each other.

The app whatyousee is, first of all, a game. The game consists in choosing among 9 in the game predetermined words to define each other faces that players see for 7 seconds live. After choosing a word, the player is matched again with another player and the game starts again.

The goal of the game is to define as many faces as possible in order to get oneself also as many viewings of ones face as possible. The ranking of the best player will be defined according to the number of viewings he/she has and how widely his/her face has been defined.

Although it is a game, it is also a personal social experiment for each player in order to see how totally unknown people from different countries, ages, cultures and gender will see his/her face.

It is for the creators and developers of this app very important to highlight that not any negative or offensive terminology will be offered as a choice to define players face. Only positive like “pretty, or friendly” or neutral terminology like “interesting or mysterious” will be used.

Anonymity is also a very important aspect of the game. The only information that will be requested is the age, gender, country of origin. So the face of the player will not be connected to any private data.
